What we check, city by city

PropertyKete does not hold the same data everywhere. An Auckland report runs more checks than a Wellington or Christchurch one, because Auckland Council publishes hazard and planning data we can use and other councils currently do not.

That difference is invisible inside a report unless we say it out loud. A check we never run produces no finding, and a short report can look like a short risk list. These pages are the correction: for each city, exactly what runs, what returns no result, and what is not checked anywhere in New Zealand.

Three different things, easy to confuse

Checked — data held
We run this check and hold the data for this city. Your report will show a result — which may be that nothing was detected at your address.
Checked — no data for this city
The check exists, but we hold no data covering this city. Your report states that the check did not run. It is not a clean result.
Not checked anywhere
This is not part of a PropertyKete report for any address, in any city. No finding will ever appear, whatever the ground is doing.
And on your own report: “not detected”
A check in the first group can come back with nothing found at your address. That means the layer was searched and your property is not in it — which is a real result, and a different thing from a check that never ran. Models have edges and dates; being outside a mapped area is not a guarantee.

The one that costs people money is reading “not checked” as “not found”. Our reports label the difference on every finding, and the city pages list it so you can see it before you search.

Nothing here is a substitute for a LIM

A PropertyKete report brings public data together and explains it. It is not a LIM, a valuation, a building report, or legal or engineering advice, and it does not become one in the city where we happen to hold the most data. See every dataset we hold, or read how to research a property before buying — what to check at each stage, and who to ask.
